Rooh-e-Majrooh, Delhi 22nd March, 2016

Rooh-e-Majrooh was Ibaadat’s inaugural show, which was staged in Delhi in November, 2011. It was later staged successfully in Mumbai, Kolkata and Dubai. Since many more people joined us in our journey and on popular demand, this show was brought again to Delhi on 22nd March, 2016, The show was staged at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi.

The show received an overwhelming appreciation.

It was not until I saw Ibaadat’s stage presentation of the life and times of the great poet Majrooh Sultanpuri that I realized what I had been missing all these years. What I saw and heard that day was a rare treat. Rare, because I am not aware of any other group which has attempted such a comprehensive, well researched, creatively satisfying production on such a subject, for stage. It was a tapestry of poetry, music, drama, and spoken word, not only bringing alive the life of one of Hindi Cinema’s greatest legends, but reminding us of those poets whose creative genius made the films memorable, who penned unforgettable words which are undoubtedly the soul of Indian Cinema, and are on the lips of generations of music lovers long after they were written.
